Operation of the Deposit Return System in SAP

The following types of packaging are covered by the Deposit Return System:

• PET bottles up to 3 liters, including caps and lids
• metal cans with a capacity of up to 1 liter
• Reusable glass bottles with a capacity of up to 1.5 liters

In the logistics chain, there are three main groups of actors involved in the system:

• Manufacturers of beverages in the mentioned packages
• Distributors
• Retailers, including all stores over 200 sq. m. offering beverages in the listed packages and other stores that have joined the system

The Deposit Return System was introduced by Directive 2019/904 of the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union on reducing the environmental impact of certain plastic products (the so-called SUP Directive). In Poland, the legal basis for the system is the amended Law on Packaging and Packaging Waste Management. (Act of November 21, 2024 on amending the Act on packaging and packaging waste management and some other acts).

As part of the services offered, All for One Poland provides, among other things:

• modifications of sales processes (SD): handling of deposits at the level of order, delivery and invoice, various settlement models (invoice, note, price conditions)

• logistics adjustments: linking deposits to warehouse movement, handling full and package returns, integration with WMS and TMS systems

• Financial and accounting (FI) settlements: dedicated posting of deposits, balance settlements with operators, preparation for annual VAT settlements for unreturned packages

• reporting and recording of packaging: automatic recording of packaging entered and returned, reports required by regulations (audit, billing with operators), handling of large volumes of data

• adjustments to master data: massive changes in material indexes, packaging BOMs, impact on credit limits and price calculations

All for One performs bail-in customizations on the following SAP systems: S/4HANA Cloud Private; S/4HANA on-prem; SAP ECC/ERP version 6.0 or higher.
