A bigger challenge than getting a business off the ground is maintaining high growth rates. The task is even more difficult the more time managers need to get to integrated and updated information.
A similar challenge was faced by mTP Met-Plast, which originally based its business operations on several distributed systems that separately supported human resources and payroll, as well as accounting and finance. Information on orders and production, in turn, was collected in spreadsheets.
The result? Scattered information and the lack of an integrated IT system to automate key processes in the company’s most important departments resulted in numerous difficulties. Collecting and analyzing data and preparing reports for the board of directors were extremely time-consuming. Because of this, business decisions were delayed and never based on the most recent data. One result of inefficient data management was also excess inventory.
Solutions that were sufficient in a small company, as the range of products and services increased and the number of customers grew, became a limitation and hindered its further development.
First, process integration
In order for Met-Plast to better realize its potential and grow dynamically, it was necessary to integrate processes in the areas of orders, production, warehousing, sales, as well as accounting and human resources, among others. This need was the main reason for the decision to implement an integrated management system SAP Business One.
The scope of SAP Business One implementation at mTP Met-Plast:
- finances
- sales and distribution
- customer service and CRM
- shopping
- production
- magazine
- human resources and payroll
SAP Business One is a dedicated system for small and medium-sized companies, offered by the ERP solutions market leader SAP. The solution is proven in hundreds of companies around the world and has ready-to-use business processes sewn in. The system does not require a complicated implementation and can be ready to work in just a few weeks. An additional advantage of the solution is its affordable, known upfront price.
The implementation was the responsibility of BCC (now All for One Poland), a dedicated SAP partner for implementations in the SME market. The choice of supplier was supported primarily by the consultants’ knowledge of the specifics of the production and service industry and their extensive experience in implementing similar projects. This, combined with the high-end SAP Business One system, guaranteed the implementation of the project in accordance with mTP Met-Plast’s business and budget expectations. The system was launched at the beginning of October 2013.

The company’s dynamic growth cannot be sustained without insight into up-to-date and integrated information. That’s why we made the decision to implement SAP Business One. Since we have been working on the system, many business processes are being carried out faster and more accurately. The entire organization has benefited – from rank-and-file employees to management.
Benefits
The system was launched with a broad functional scope, covering key areas of the company.
The implementation of SAP Business One has made it possible to increase the efficiency of key business processes. At the same time, control over production, administration, accounting, sales, purchasing and human resources was strengthened. Faster turnover, in turn, translated into higher revenues for the company.
Access to current and integrated data has enabled more accurate production planning and reduced inventory in the warehouse. The company was particularly keen on controlling production orders, being able to report completed orders on an ongoing basis and knowing when products were available for sale. Thanks to dedicated solutions, this process has been brought under control, while giving customers reliable information about their order lead times.
The beneficiaries of replacing several “island" systems with an integrated SAP Business One solution are also customers, who now receive more precise information about the availability and delivery time of ordered products.
Met-Plast’s mTP management now has quick access to up-to-date reports illustrating sales results and trends, production data, as well as inventory information in the warehouse.
